(Bread &) Sweets to the Streets
Providing Bread and Treats to Those Experiencing Food Insecurity

Since 2017, PC! PDX volunteers have been picking up donated baked goods from Safeway on Barber and delivering them to various orgs that distribute food to the hungry. We began with the First Saturday each month, taking bread and goodies to 13 Salmon Family Center and the Ronald McDonald House, and we expanded in 2020 to delivering to Blanchet House every Wednesday.
Today, our volunteers pick up and deliver every Wednesday to Multnomah Safe Rest Village and every First Saturday to Urban Gleaners.

Who Gets the Bread & Goodies?
Multnomah Safe Rest Village offers temporary, managed living for houseless Portlanders,18 years and older—a space to sleep, receive basic and necessary hygiene, and access case management and behavioral health services.
With 1 in 5 Oregonians living with food insecurity, the nonprofit Urban Gleaners is a community gem! They redistribute 60,000 lbs. of food each month to feed 4,000 people each week in school pantries, at farmers' markets, and through mobile pantries in low-income communities.
By picking up bread and baked goods from Safeway and delivering to these organizations, Positive Charge! PDX volunteers are helping to address the hunger crisis in our community!
How Can You Help?
Although we have a full slate of amazingly generous drivers at this time, we are always looking for substitute drivers and those who want to join a waitlist for a First Saturday or a Wednesday slot.
