Bake and decorate (or purchase) 2-3 dozen or more of your favorite holiday cookies. Then drop off your cookie donations on Dec. 19. If you'd like, stay for more fun and connection!

If you choose to make homemade cards, please create them “tag-like” and add one hole-punch in a corner. You can bring these to the Dec. 19 event or drop them off in advance in our Two Can Tuesday collection bins throughout town (in plastic bags, please. See the FAQs below for other card details.

Please volunteer to deliver cookies to various New Narrative apartment buildings where onsite staff will greet you, or to senior facilities, shelters, and other residential facilities. You'll choose 2-3 locations where you'll drive and drop off cookie platters. We'll be organizing the deliveries in different quadrants of the city.

FAQs

Who is New Narrative?

Founded in 1977, New Narrative provides mental health services, peer support, and housing throughout the Portland metropolitan area. Through clinical care, community-based programs, and supportive housing, New Narrative helps people seeking mental health care develop the tools to thrive, not just survive. Learn more at www.NewNarrativePDX.org.

Are there any restrictions on the cookies?

No! Make YOUR  favorite recipes! Or even purchase and bring yummy store-bought cookies.

Do I need to bring containers with my cookies?

It's best to deliver your cookies in boxes or on paper plates that you don't need to have returned. This will facilitate assembling. But you don't need to bring plastic containers or anything else like that. We'll take care of the standardized delivery plates as well as cellophane and ribbon for packaging and decorating.

Do I need to bring cookies to attend the event?

Nope! Feel free to come and enjoy the festivities of assembling, wrapping, and card making!

Do I have to drive and deliver cookie bags if I attend the event?

No, but you're welcome to do so and get an additional "positive charge" by delivering cheer to neighbors who are without family during the holidays.

Anything else I should bring to the event?

It's not necessary, but if you'd like to bring and donate ribbon and card-making supplies, that would be lovely.

Any particular card designs/specifications?

We're requesting you create "tag-like" cards (one-sided is fine), and that you  hole-punch your tag, because we'll be  attaching them to beautifully wrapped cookies platters with ribbon.  (If you don't have a hole-punch, that's fine; we'll take care of that!)

Because the cookies are delivered to people of many faiths, we ask that the designs be winter-themed as opposed to referencing anything religious.

Regarding messaging, here are some ideas:

  • Wishing you peace and joy

  • Season’s Greetings

  • Warm winter wishes

  • Sending you warmth and cheer

  • Wishing you peace and happiness

You can sign the tag with your first name or "Friend of Positive Charge! PDX."

Do I need to bring envelopes if I'm making cards at home?

No. We'll be hole-punching the cards /tags as noted above.
