About the event
What's a better way to spend a spring Saturday afternoon than by getting your hands dirty for a good cause!?
We're so looking forward to this event, in support of the work of Kindness Farm—a first-generation immigrant-, refugee-, and queer-led nonprofit farm in SE Portland. This gem of an organization cultivates resiliency among people of all walks of life, teaches regenerative gardening, and donates all its produce to hungry humans.
What We'll Be Doing
If you garden, even a little, you'll know there's always work to be done! In May, we'll likely be needed for planting, weeding, and mulching. Please note that you'll be welcome to stay as long as you like to finish a chore or to keep working. :)
Who Can Participate
- No previous gardening experience needed.
- Ages 12+ (Minors must be accompanied by an adult.)
- There are tasks for all skill and physical ability levels; the Kindness Farm folks are happy to work with any challenges or limitations you may have!
What to Bring
- This will be a rain-or-shine event, so plan to wear weather-appropriate "work clothes" and sturdy close-toed shoes.
- Gardening gloves, if you have them. (Otherwise, Kindness Farm has plenty of gloves to borrow!)
- Water
- A snack, if you'd like.
- Yourself, a family member, a friend! :-)
- Gardening tools provided.
Waivers
- All volunteers must complete this Kindness Farm Waiver Form prior to attending the event.
- Please note that you'll be asked to accept these Terms and Condtions of Positive Charge! PDX when you sign up to attend. Please review them now.
- If you are bringing minors, please also print, fill in, and bring this PC! PDX Minor's Waiver with you when you come to the event. (I know, whew! ;) Covered!)
Location Parking
This 1.5-acre parcel is tucked into a residential neighborhood and directly off SE Foster—so parking is minimal. You're welcome to park anywhere on the right side (farm side) of the street.
This event is limited to 30 people. We expect it to be a popular event, so be sure to sign up early. We look forward to seeing you for this outdoor classic PC! PDX event.
