Cookies for a Cause!
Join Positive Charge! PDX as we host our annual Holiday Cookie event! This year, we'll be partnering with New Narrative, Northwest Pilot Project, Sunstone Way, and IBW PC to deliver cookies and holiday greetings to our nonprofit partners helping neighbors in need. Many of those who'll receive your cookies won’t have family support during the holidays. Let's make their day!

How does it work?
Choose one option or all!

1
At Home, Bake Cookies and/or Make Cards
Bake and decorate 2-3 dozen or more of your favorite holiday cookies. Or make beautiful holiday greeting cards. Then drop off your cookies and/or cards on the day of the big event. If you'd like, stay for more fun and connection! Your call!
2
Assemble Cookie Trays or Create Holiday Cards
Sat., December 13
1 - 3 pm
Ida B. Wells High School Cafeteria
1151 SW Vermont St.
Courtyard Entrance
Bring your cookies at 1:00 pm on this day to this location. Then stay to assemble a variety of cookies onto plates and to wrap and decorate them for delivery. Or have fun making handmade holiday cards to accompany the cookie plates. Ages 6+ are welcome!
3
Deliver the Cookies with
Caring, Kindness &
Holiday Spirit!
Immediately after the Assembling Event
Please volunteer to deliver cookies to various New Narrative apartment buildings where onsite staff will greet you; seniors served by Northwest Pilot Project; Sunstone Way shelters; and other facilities such as Multnomah Safe Rest Village and Janus Youth housing. You'll choose 2-3 locations where you'll drive and drop off cookie platters. We hope to deliver to at least 30 locations serving 600 people, so your help is greatly appreciated!
Who Gets the Cookies?
We'll be bringing holiday cheer to neighbors without family during the holidays who reside at housing provided by one of these great nonprofits:
-
New Narrative (NewNarrativePDX.org) facilitates housing and programming for people seeking mental wellness.
-
Northwest Pilot Project (NWPilotProject.org) connects low-income seniors who are capable of independent living with rental housing that is safe, permanent, and affordable.
-
Sunstone Way (SunstoneWay.org) offers low-barrier shelter options designed to meet people where they are in their journey.
-
Janus Youth Programs (janusyouth.org) creates paths to success by partnering with youth, families, and the community to help children and young adults overcome homelessness, abuse, and lack of opportunity.
-
Multnomah Safe Rest Village is a temporary alternative shelter with case management, amenities, and mental and behavioral health services on-site.

FAQs
Are there any restrictions on the cookies?
No! Make YOUR favorite recipes! Or even purchase and bring yummy store-bought cookies.
Do I need to bring a container?
It's best to deliver your cookies in boxes or on paper plates that you don't need to have returned. This will facilitate assembling. But you don't need to bring plastic containers or anything else like that. We'll take care of the standardized delivery plates as well as cellophane and ribbon for packaging and decorating.
Do I need to bring cookies to attend the event?
Nope! Feel free to come and enjoy the festivities of assembling, wrapping, and card making!
Do I have to deliver platters if I attend the event?
No, but you're welcome to do so and get an additional "positive charge" by delivering cheer to neighbors who are without family during the holidays.
Is there anything else I should bring to the event?
It's not necessary, but if you'd like to bring and donate ribbon and card-making supplies, that would be lovely.
Do I need to bring envelopes if I'm making cards at home?
No. We'll be hole-punching the cards and attaching them to beautifully wrapped cookies platters with ribbon.
