Help Local Shelter Animals & Their Trainers Through Crafting
When does the Project start?
About the Project
Due to a new deadline (1/31) for accepting additional items from the US, the 2/9 Emergency Kindness Event Part 2 to help the injured and orphaned animals from bush fires in Australia has been modified to help local shelter animals and their trainers!
Dogs, cats, and trainers at the following locations will benefit from our help on 2/9!:
DOG/TRAINER NEEDS: Project POOCH at MacClaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn – pooch.org: “Provides opportunities for youth in corrections to learn responsibility, patience, and compassion for all life by working with shelter dogs, learn to train the dogs, group them, and find them new adoptive “forever homes.” The dogs leave the program ready to be great pets, while their trainers re-enter the community with new job and personal skills and increased compassion and respect for all life.” Knitting, crocheting, and sewing bed crates for the dogs, and hats/scarves for the youth while they are training their dogs outside in the cold, will benefit both the youth and the dogs they are caring for in 1 event – beautiful!
CAT NEEDS: Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood – catadoptionteam.org: Portland’s Cat Adoption Team (CAT) “is the largest cat shelter in the Pacific Northwest, offering adoption, foster care, and veterinary services to homeless cats and kittens. They are so excited to have us making catnip toys for all their kitties!
